There are two ways to search for information on this site.
The first way, using the search top right, queries an index of all the documents on the site and gives you a result generated by an automated program. It has no human element.
The second way, in the left hand column, queries an external database which is editied by me and as a result includes questions and answers that students have had over the years I’ve been working at LJMU. It also includes links to websites, videos etc that I think maybe of use.
This should be the search you use for questions and answers and general background information.
Let’s be clear from the start; university is about finding information out for yourself and then analysing this information to formulate your answer.
As a result it is important you realise that a tutor’s role is very much about pointing you in the right direction, rather than just giving you the answer you want straight away.
In accordance with this principle this site’s FAQ’s work in a similar fashion, pointing you to information that will help you with your answer, rather than just trotting out an answer verbatim.
You should firstly approach your tutorial tutor in your allocated tutorial session. If you are still unsure you should contact your tutorial tutor by e-mail.
If still unsure after this you should e-mail me, as Module Leader, sending me copies of the e-mails between yourself and your tutorial tutor and I will hopefully answer your question.
