All the texts tell you site Links In are a good thing but they should be quality links from bona fide directories. I’ve decided to try and check this out by a little experiment.
To start, I’m going to try and get listings on as many FREE business directories as I can. The list below gives reciprocal links to these directories so feel free to use them yourself.
In the meantime I’m going to keep checking my Google Page Rank to see if it makes any difference.
18/01/2007 the current pagerank using the Google Toolbar is 1/10.
UK Free Index >26/01/2007 Gosh! In 8 days and with just the entries above is has gone to 2/10.
2-surf.net >18/02/2007 Still at 2/10.
UK Web Design Association >19/03/2007 Not looking very good. Still at 2/10. Very hard to find free sites that are worth listing on.
07/04/2007 I’ve left it a bit to see if there was any latency in the listings. Still at 2/10.
2gogo UK Directory >17/05/2007 Still at 2/10 although I’ve noticed since submitting an XML sitemap linked to the robots.txt file using autodiscovery that all the other pages now score 1/10.
Directory at Marketingtool.com10/10/2007 Still at 2/10. Jan Klin who is another Search Optimisation fan has offered me a reciprocal link from his Google Page Rank 4 pages. Interesting to see if this good quality link makes any difference.
Jan Klin Associates specialists in Search Engine Optimisation-SEO-Manchester29/05/2008 Now at 3/10. I think this has more to do with a PR shot from Close Brothers [Private Equity Partners] concerning the purchase of part of Eldapoint Ltd. As their web developer it reflected on their page rank and hence onto mine.
